Joseph Tsethlikai
An original native of New Mexico from the Zuni tribe, Joseph is a U.S. Navy Veteran giving 4yrs to our country and 6yrs to our prison system. Using this opportunity, Joseph intends to regain those years lost through positive progression in his future.
"I would like to thank Choice and Chances for this opportunity because it has give me a chance to reconnect with my kids and provides a positive outlook on my future knowing that soon I will be able to provide for my three daughters and becoming a better man for my family"
Rolando Ochoa
Originally from Los Angeles California, Rolando moved to New Mexico to escape a life of crime and to escape the notorious LA street life. With a desire to achieve something more than what statistics have already planned for him, Rolando aims to show others like himself that there are other ways of making money and there is nothing more gangster than living a life of honor, a life to be proud of.
"Im not going back to that life, I know what it's like, I see what it does to people, I see what it almost did to me, I've seen what it has done to people I love. I see my life with new value and its priceless and my choices will line up with my actions, period"
Dennis Diminovich
Affected by almost 20yrs in the prison system, Dennis now has a new lease on life and a new focus that he says is solely because of his kids. When asked what is his "why", Dennis simply said:
"Im doing this for my kids, so much of my life and time has been loss that I can't get back, so many years lost of watching my kids grow, I can't afford to allow anymore of that time to be wasted and I now have an opportunity to be an example as well for those coming from my background"
James Abney
Like many, James moved to New Mexico for a fresh start. After serving 15yrs in the prison system, James finally has an opportunity to put all of the years of planning into action for his life. When asked what's his driving force to create a better life for himself, he responded with this:
"My baby girl, she is my best friend, I lost 15yrs of watching her grow up and I refuse to go back down that path again, I didn't just waste my time when locked away, everyday I thought about what I would do to accomplish goals of success for myself, every year was a step closer and an opportunity to experience life as a freeman, free to achieve greatness and I can now do that with the help of Choice and Chances."
"Its important for women like me to see that its possible to get out of those dark situations and its ok to trust the help when that trust is earned. Doing your part is the key and Im looking forward to the day where my daughter looks at me and she is proud of me as her mother. That moment will come through the choices I've made to get to where I am now"
